After nearly 30 years of dedicated service to Seattle Parks and Recreation, Volunteer Park Conservatory Gardener Giselle Blythe has entered a well-earned retirement.

Giselle was the Conservatory’s resident specialist on cacti and succulents and cared for many of the specimens in the Conservatory. Together, Giselle and Senior Gardener David Helgeson carefully curated the displays, and cared for many of the gorgeous cacti, succulents, epiphyllum, and many others.

In addition to her gardening duties, Giselle played an important role in the interpretative and education programming at the Conservatory. Giselle was a member of the Friends of the Conservatory Education Committee, and was instrumental in training docents, and administering programs such as the Urban Safari.

Giselle’s contributions are many, and the legacy that she leaves behind are an asset to the community and publicly held collections of the Conservatory!

We will miss you Giselle, and wish you all the best of luck on your next adventures!
