Palm House Gift Shop Director
The Palm House Gift Shop is pleased to offer a great new selection of items made by local artists! I’ve been scouting the studios of artists making jewelry, giclee prints, colorful wool coin purses, candles, books, the ever popular printed flour sack towels, as well as many other creative gift items.
The Friends of the Conservatory, we ask for and rely on support from our communities, and sourcing local artists is a great way we can give back. Look for “Local Artist” signs and exciting new additions throughout the shop.
The shop is getting a more garden-like look and feel to it, including more wood, aluminum/metal and re-purposed found items. The challenge is adding these items in such a small space while maintaining all the wonderful light that the plants need. The transition has begun and I’m excited to see it grow, especially now as I plan for the introduction of holiday items!
Our fabulous volunteers will now be able to take advantage of a new new communication board and binder to help them abreast of what is going on in FOC as well as with the gardeners and Seattle Park and Recreation.
Having more and updated information to share with our visitors will keep them here longer and involve them in what we do.
It is crucial that we implement this, so our memberships and donations increase, and so new members feel compelled to support our efforts by becoming involved!
We’re also looking for some new Gift Shop Volunteers. Like working with the public? Want to help support the FOC? We need you! write firstname.lastname@example.org or call Chrissa at 206.384.4311.
